Little me

The child in me

Is begging to come out

I thought she died

I buried her soul

Six feet under

A long time ago

She knocks at the footsteps

Of my heart

Begging for me

To let her in

I stare from my rib cage

She waits patiently

She’s dirty

Her dress torn

Barefoot

I can see the dry blood

On her skin

What have I done?

She waits for me still

The child in me

Wants to come in

I let her in my heart

But

I leave her behind

We need to grow

For me to come back
